According to Oil World data, in April of the current year, coconut oil stocks in Malaysia increased by 300 thousand tons in a month, reaching 1.87 million tons. This increase is due to active production and a decrease in export volumes.
The total production volume of coconut oil in the country in April was 1.69 million tons, which is 12% higher than production in March (1.50 million tons). The main growth was recorded in the regions of Sabah and Sarawak, where over 740 thousand tons of products were produced.
Meanwhile, in April, Malaysia exported 1.10 million tons of coconut oil, which is 11% less than the previous month and 13% less than in April 2024 (1.75 million tons). In the first 4 months of 2025, the export volume decreased to 4.28 million tons compared to 4.94 million tons for January-April 2024. The decrease in export volume is due to low demand in key markets, including India.
According to experts, despite a decrease in domestic consumption of products during the month, coconut oil from Malaysia continues to remain competitive in the global market. It is anticipated that exports will increase in the coming months, especially considering the reduction in supplies of alternative vegetable oils to countries like India.
