Caterpillars of the Moroccan locust have been detected in six districts of the region, mainly in the east, covering a total area of 20.5 thousand hectares with a density of 5.9 individuals per square meter. After conducting research, treatment was carried out in the districts of Arzgirsk, Neftekumsk, Stepnovsk, Kursk, and Turkmen on an area of 2,200 hectares. Atmospheric phenomena, such as rain and wind, are slowing down the treatment process.

The head of the Rosselkhoztsentr of the Stavropol region, Olga Kuznetsova, reported that agricultural producers were provided with the Tanrek, VRK agent to combat locust insects in the amount of 825 liters over a total area of 11.0 thousand hectares: Neftekumsk district was allocated 675 liters for 9.0 thousand hectares, and Stepnovsk district – 150 liters for 2.0 thousand hectares. There are still 20,183 liters of insecticides available to combat locust pests, which can be used over a total area of 269.1 thousand hectares.

"The drugs were purchased at the expense of regional finances thanks to the support of the Governor of the Stavropol region, Vladimir Vladimirov, and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory," noted Olga Kuznetsova.
