According to the forecast of Rosselkhozbank, flaxseed oil production in Russia is expected to increase by 5%, reaching 1.753 million hectares by 2030.

The center of Rosselkhozbank has completed the Forum on the development of linseed production in Russia. The planting area will increase by 5%, reaching 1.753 million hectares, with a yield of up to 1.42 million tons.

This year, the export of linseeds has decreased by 15%, with China and Belgium leading in purchases.

The Center for Specialized Analytics of Rosselkhozbank (RSKB) has completed a Forum dedicated to the development of flax farming and the cultivation of leguminous crops, which took place on June 6, 2025.

According to the forecasts of experts at the RSKB center, the area sown with oil flax in Russia this year will increase by 5%, reaching 1.753 million hectares compared to 1.67 million hectares in 2024. It is expected that the harvest will also increase to 1.42 million tons from last year's 1.346 million tons. By 2030, oil flax production is expected to increase to 2.104 million tons, confirming Russia's status as a global leader in the cultivation of this traditional crop.

Previously, industry representatives noted that flax is becoming a key oilseed crop, and the harvest of oil flax is planned at 1.6 million tons. According to the center's specialists, flaxseed yield last year was 19% below the world average, at 0.84 tons per hectare instead of a potential 1 ton per hectare. While in France, where the best results are achieved, the yield is 1.95 tons per hectare.

Data from OleoScope shows that the volume of flaxseed exports for the first 5 months of this year amounted to 422 thousand tons (-15% compared to the same period last year). The leaders in terms of purchase volumes were China (324 thousand tons) and Belgium (34 thousand tons).
