Updated customs duty rates on grain exports in Russia: what will change from May 28, 2025?

From May 28 to June 3, 2025, new customs duties on the export of grain come into force: wheat - 1364.5 rubles per ton, barley - 0 rubles per ton, corn - 606.0 rubles per ton. The changes are related to the harvest and export goals.

Exports of soybeans from Brazil in May 2025 are projected to reach 14.52 million tons, which is 1.75% higher than the forecast from last week.

Exports for January-April amounted to 40.42 million tons, close to half of last year's volume. Revenues are expected to increase with the soybean crop of 2024/25 estimated at 167.9 million tons.

The Minister of Agriculture claims that the price of summer diesel fuel for farmers remains stable, at last year's level. The volumes of supplies are coordinated with the Ministry of Energy. Fuel prices are at a normal level, with an increase of less than 0.5%. The Antimonopoly Service monitors prices to maintain a fair policy.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the price of world sugar #11 fell by 0.26 to 19.36 (-1.33%), while on the London Stock Exchange, white sugar #5 decreased by 4.20 to 555.70 (-0.75%). This is due to the forecast of a sugar surplus in the global market next year, with an expected +182 thousand tons in 2024/25.

Farmers of the Zabaykalsky Krai have planted almost half of the agricultural crops on an area of 64,000 hectares. Chernyshevsky district is leading with 17.2 thousand hectares. Grain crops cover 28.1 thousand hectares, rapeseed - 30.2 thousand hectares, sunflower - 3.3 thousand hectares, flax - 1.8 thousand hectares. 333 hectares of potatoes have been planted. The plan is fulfilled by 59%. Work is underway in several districts.

During the period of January-April 2025, Russia exported rapeseed oil to China for $478.2 million, which is 29% more than the previous year. Russia is leading the market, surpassing Canada and Belarus. However, rapeseed exports to China decreased by 3.4 times, reaching $13.1 million.

Oksana Lut expressed satisfaction with the results of the meeting with the head of the Kaluga region, noting a positive trend in the development of livestock breeding and agricultural production.

Also discussed were projects related to the utilization of land resources and the implementation of state programs for the development of rural areas. The budget for improving living conditions in rural areas has been increased to 1 billion rubles.

In the conditions of a changing climate and resource scarcity, precision agriculture technologies become a necessity. The platform integrates with John Deere and enables the application of agrochemicals at variable rates. Data analysis helps farmers select seeds and improve crop resilience.

In May, hailstorms occurred in this area. Politicians emphasize the importance of insuring against natural disasters. The natural disaster hit several regions, damaging over 15 thousand hectares of crops. State support partially covers the expenses for agricultural insurance.

Rosselkhozbank's CEA forecast: the biotechnology market in Russia will reach 4.2 million tons and 700 billion rubles by 2028. Agriculture in 2021 amounted to 149 billion rubles, with an expected growth to 190 billion rubles by 2028. Biotechnologies are used to reduce production costs and increase crop yields.

National projects include the development of breeding, production of veterinary drugs, and support for the agro-industry.
