Sowing-2025: Farmers of the Vladimir region expect a record harvest
In the current season, the sowing period in our region started noticeably earlier than the year before. Despite the sudden cold spell in April, 40 percent of the planned spring planting has already been completed. Work in the fields is being carried out in every municipality in the region. Our filming crew visited the Suzdal district. The report is presented by Alexander Sypchenko.
In the cultivated field in the village of Stary Dvor of the Suzdal district, the laborers of the local agricultural enterprise will harvest a generous crop of barley and wheat this summer. The productivity of this land segment is impressive - 40 quintals per hectare. After a short break due to rains, tractors with agricultural machinery go out to the field early in the morning.
Victor Smolin, tractor driver-operator:
– We start loading the bunker. It has a capacity of 3 tons, now we bring the amount of seeds to the norm. This year we started a little earlier than usual, as there was little snow in winter.
The total area allocated for grain crops at the local agricultural enterprise is almost 8 thousand hectares. The chief agronomist Yuri Babin monitors the progress of work in each plot online.
Thanks to hard work and the use of advanced technologies, farmers in the Suzdal district this year expect an abundance of harvest.
Yuri Babin, chief agronomist:
– This season, we plan to sow barley, peas, and spring wheat. There are also areas for alfalfa, corn, and winter wheat. The latter is essential. I expect to increase the yield per hectare by about 30 percent this year.
The total area of cultivated lands in the Vladimir region is 280 thousand hectares. This is 4.5 thousand hectares more than the previous year. The increase is due to the reintroduction of new plots into circulation, emphasizes the head of the region's Ministry of Agriculture, Oleg Pugaev.
Oleg Pugaev, Minister of Agriculture of the Vladimir region:
– This year, it is planned to develop about 11.5–12 thousand hectares of new areas. This is necessary to have the opportunity to increase the land reserves, especially fertile land. This is a key resource for increasing the production of both agricultural and livestock products.
Sowing work is at its peak across the entire territory. 42 percent of technical crops have been planted, 35 percent of potatoes, and 22 percent of forage crops.
Oleg Pugaev, Minister of Agriculture of the Vladimir region:
– It is expected that with the current structure of sown areas, the yield will be at least 250 thousand tons. This is a projected level that may not reach any records, but such indicators are usually set. However, this is the typical yield for the last 5 years in our region.
The key to a successful harvest is weed control. May is the standard time for applying herbicides.
