Next week, a significant drop in temperature is expected in several regions of Russia. The scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, Roman Vilfand, shared information about the temperature decrease in the North-East of Europe, in the North and Center of the Urals, as well as in the North of the Siberian Federal District. According to Vilfand's forecasts, temperatures will be below normal at the beginning of next week across the European part of Russia.
A particularly significant temperature drop is expected in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, as well as in the North of the Krasnoyarsk Krai. Regions in the Urals and the Volga region will also feel the cold front.
The North-Western Federal District (Komi, Arkhangelsk Oblast) and the North of the Volga Federal District expect frosts of -20 to -25 degrees. In the Center of European Russia, a temperature decrease of 3-4 degrees is expected, and in the Southern Federal District (Rostov Oblast, Krasnodar Krai, Crimea) it will be 4-6 degrees below normal.
Roman Vilfand explained that the low temperatures are due to cold air masses coming from Franz Josef Land, Svalbard, and Novaya Zemlya. This cold front will cover the North of the Urals, the northern part of the Krasnoyarsk Krai, and then penetrate into the South of European Russia.
A sharp drop in temperature is expected in Chukotka. Currently, temperatures there are 24-26 degrees above normal, but by Monday, a decrease of 2-4 degrees is expected, leading to frosts of -30 to -35 degrees, and even as low as -38 degrees in Kolyma.
Low temperatures can also be expected in the Central Chernozem Region, where temperatures at night could drop to -17 degrees, and during the day to -10 degrees.
