According to the FranceAgriMer report, as of February 10, 73% of the soft wheat sowings in France were in a high-quality state, exceeding the four-year-old figure of 68%.
As per the report, the sowings suffered from heavy rainfall, which led to delays in sowing operations and had a negative impact on the initial development of the plants, raising concerns about a repeat of last year's situation when the crop was the lowest since 1980.
Furthermore, by the specified date, 68% of the winter barley sowings were in good to excellent condition, lower than the previous year's figure (71%) and the lowest level since 2020.
Spring barley sowings have been completed on 23% of the planned areas, exceeding the previous year's result (20%), but remain below the average for the last 5 years (24%).
