In the Krasnodar Territory, after the end of 2024, the yield and gross harvest of the main agricultural crops significantly declined due to unproductive weather conditions. This information was reported to the Kuban Ministry of Agriculture by the "Vedomosti South" magazine. According to the ministry, the region's farmers have not faced such weather problems for over 10 years.
As reported by the Ministry of Agriculture of Kuban, "2024 became a year of trials for farmers - an unusually high amount of precipitation fell in January and February, followed by severe drought in the region starting from March. An early harvest of winter crops became another challenge that had to be dealt with."
The yield of corn decreased by 2.4 times, soybeans by 1.6 times, sugar beets by 1.5 times, sunflower by 1.4 times compared to 2023.
In 2024, in the Krasnodar Territory, 10.3 million tons of wheat, 1.1 million tons of corn, and approximately 862,000 tons of rice were harvested. 936,000 tons of sunflower (70.6% of the 2023 level), 242,000 tons of soybeans (72.3% of the 2023 level), and 202,000 tons of rapeseed (69.5% of the 2023 level) were harvested.
Altogether, in 2024, the Krasnodar Territory collected 13.8 million tons of grain of grain and leguminous crops in the initially harvested weight, which is 4.5% less than in 2023. Despite this decrease, the Krasnodar Territory still remains the leader in harvesting these crops in Russia. Moreover, Kuban retains the first place in the country in the gross harvest of root crops.
As previously reported in the "Vedomosti South" magazine, during the autumn sowing, farmers in the Krasnodar Territory also faced unfavorable weather conditions. Many farms had to sow new crops of winter crops in dry soil conditions.
