The government has presented a structure of agricultural crop areas for 2025.
"This year, the diversity of crop areas will continue according to the government's Roadmap for Doubling Agricultural Production approved last year. All indicators have been transferred to the local levels," said A. Saparov.
Altogether, it is planned to sow agricultural lands covering an area of 23.8 million hectares, exceeding the previous year's level by 518 thousand hectares.
This year, the crop diversification program will cover approximately 1 million hectares. In particular, the area of high-yield crops will be increased by 750 thousand hectares, including oilseeds by 365 thousand hectares, fodder crops by 184 thousand hectares, barley by 114 thousand hectares, buckwheat by 41.5 thousand hectares, and potatoes by 15 thousand hectares.
At the same time, work continues to move away from wheat monoculture. Over 2 years, the area allocated for wheat has decreased by almost 730 thousand hectares, including 159 thousand hectares in the current year.
These measures will allow optimizing sowing structure and reducing risks associated with fluctuations in agricultural product prices. Currently, oilseeds and leguminous crops are in demand in domestic and external markets, with prices remaining consistently high, increasing the profitability of agriculture.
For example, with an average price of wheat at 65-70 thousand tenge per ton, the market value of export-oriented crops such as flax and rapeseed reaches 200 thousand tenge and more.
Additionally, leguminous crops, which are good predecessors, enrich the soil with nitrogen and increase the yield of subsequent crops. This is not only beneficial but also environmentally friendly.
To ensure a reliable forage base, it is planned to increase the sown areas of fodder crops to 3.4 million hectares. The area of oilseed crops will increase to 3.3 million hectares, allowing processing plants to be fully utilized. The planned areas will fully meet the needs of the domestic market.
