In June, experts from the Altai branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Center for Assessment of the Quality of Agri-Food Products" conducted an inspection of products for compliance with the standards of GOST 6201-2020 "Peeled Peas. Specifications." The laboratory studied the organoleptic characteristics of pea groats: color, taste, aroma, and appearance. They also checked for the presence of hazardous substances (cadmium, arsenic, mercury, lead), mycotoxins (aflatoxins), radionuclides (cesium-137), residual amounts of pesticides, GMOs, and contamination by pests of grain reserves. In addition, quality indicators were studied, including moisture content, protein content, presence of various impurities, crushed, eaten, uncleaned, and damaged grains, as well as the presence of bran and flour.

The analyses conducted in the laboratory showed that the pea groats met all the requirements of GOST for quality and safety.

The World Food Programme (WFP) is a large-scale humanitarian project founded by the United Nations in 1961. This organization has earned a reputation as a global leader in providing emergency food assistance in crisis situations.

WFP actively supports people affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters. The organization also participates in development projects, paying special attention to countries with low-income populations suffering from chronic food insecurity.

By the end of last year, Southern African countries found themselves in an unprecedented crisis, facing the most severe drought in the last 100 years. This natural disaster threatens the lives of many people and brings the region closer to a serious tragedy.

Economic and social problems in the region have worsened due to prolonged power outages. This is due to a sharp decline in water resources in reservoirs, which has significantly reduced the efficiency of hydroelectric power stations. In addition to the energy crisis, the drought has led to the destruction of crops, exacerbating the situation.

The situation is particularly severe in countries like Mozambique and Angola. In several states, such as Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, Malawi, and Lesotho, authorities have been forced to declare a national disaster due to acute food shortages.
