In the current agricultural year (July 2024 - June 2025), the company "Demetra Trading" (part of the holding company "Demetra-Holding") has concluded seasonal contracts for the supply of 2.3 million tons of grain. This is 1.9 times more than the previous year. It is expected that the share of such contracts will exceed 15% of the company's total procurement volume, according to the press service.
Seasonal contracts were first introduced in the company "Demetra Trading" in the 2021/2022 season, when 200 thousand tons of grain were contracted. The following year (2022/2023), the volume of contracts increased 6 times to 1.2 million tons.
Currently, seasonal contracts cover 14 regions of Russia, including the Tambov, Rostov, Kursk, Oryol, and Tula regions. The majority of deliveries are carried out by the Izberdeevsky Elevator (village of Petrovskoe, Tambov region), as well as the companies "Yugo-Vostochnaya Agrogroup" and "Rusagro."
"Seasonal contracts are a reliable sales channel for our suppliers, allowing them to receive the necessary financial resources in a timely manner. For us, this is a source of liquidity that ensures us with predictable grain volumes. Therefore, I am confident that this tool will be in demand by both suppliers and us. Contract volumes will increase, and the delivery area will expand," said Roman Kron, managing director of Demetra Trading.
A seasonal contract is an agreement for the upcoming season that specifies a preliminary delivery schedule. The cost of grain is determined according to market indicators, and the agricultural producer can choose the moment to fix the price: either before the shipment of a weekly batch or upon its completion.
