In this summer season, the authorities of the People's Republic of China announced a significant increase in grain production, which became the largest achievement in the past nine years.

The total area of land under cultivation in China continues to grow for the third consecutive year, breaking the long-term trend of reduction. On Thursday, September 19, the Xinhua News Agency, citing the Ministry of Natural Resources of the PRC, reported this.

Deputy Minister Liu Gohong, speaking at a press conference, announced that since 2021, the total area of agricultural land in the country has increased by 17.58 million mu (about 1.17 million hectares). He explained that achieving such a significant result became possible due to the implementation of a dynamic control system at the provincial level, which ensured the balance of the total arable land area. In addition, economic incentives were provided to recognize the importance of efforts to preserve agricultural land.

China's priority attention continues to be focused on food security, as the country feeds over 1.4 billion people, with only 9% of the world's arable land. Over the years, various measures have been taken to increase grain production, including creating higher-quality agricultural land and implementing advanced agricultural technologies.

This summer, the Chinese authorities also reported the largest increase in grain production in nine years, thanks to a high wheat yield.
