In the first half of 2024, 43.2 thousand tons of vegetable oil worth 41.7 million US dollars were imported into the Republic of Tajikistan. Safarali Nurali Kurbonzoda, the first deputy head of the Antimonopoly Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, announced this at a press conference on Wednesday.
According to customs statistics, the average price for vegetable oil has decreased to 966 dollars per ton, which is 8 dollars lower than the previous year. Overall, the volume of oil imports decreased by 3.06 thousand tons, or 7.0%. In the vegetable oil market in Tajikistan, 75 entrepreneurial entities are actively operating, 17 fewer than in the same period the previous year. The main importers include LLC "Manucher Khudjaev" (18.17%), LLC "Tijorati Yovon" (8.15%), LLC "Tajero" (7.14%), LLC "Anko Invest" (4.72%), LLC "Shomi Jayhun" (4.67%), and LLC "Tajero Sogd" (3.43%). Other market participants account for 53.73% of the oil import volume.
In the first half of 2024, the Republic of Kazakhstan is the main supplier of vegetable oil with a share of 67.64%, the Russian Federation—17.75%, the Republic of Uzbekistan—12.35%, and other countries—2.26%. In addition, during the reporting period, 12.1 thousand tons of vegetable oil worth 146.1 million somoni were produced in the republic, which is 1.4 thousand tons, or 13.3%, more than in the same period last year.
