Rosselkhoznadzor has expressed concern over the violation of temporary restrictions on the import of Kazakh wheat into Russia. Cases of grain products being imported without direct transshipment have been registered, posing a risk of spreading harmful organisms. Compliance with quarantine and phytosanitary requirements is required.

Afghanistan is asking Russia to lower grain prices due to high export tariffs. Additionally, there are talks about introducing preferences for Afghan goods in exports.

Grain export from the Volgograd region in 2024 increased by 4.8% to 941.6 thousand tons. The grain was supplied to 30 countries around the world, including Turkey, Kazakhstan, Iraq, Belarus.

The harvest amounted to 4 million tons, unlike the previous year when more than 6 million tons were harvested.

In 2025, the quota for duty-free rice imports from Vietnam to Russia may increase by 1.6%, while in Belarus it may decrease by 0.6%. Russia has proposed a quota of 7,403 tons (currently 7,288), Belarus - 2,447 tons (compared to 2,462). Armenia may receive 150 tons of rice. The total quota for the EEU countries is 10 thousand tons, applicable to long-grain rice.

The Minister of Trade of Mali announced that 40% of wheat imports come from Russia. Additionally, the country plans to start exporting its agricultural products to Russia, including cotton, sesame, cashew nuts, and mango.

World prices for wheat have fallen, while corn has become more expensive. Russian prices: wheat has decreased, barley and corn have risen. Import of wheat from Kazakhstan has been resumed. Forecast for wheat exports from Russia has been reduced.

Exchange rates on 10.01.25:

Corn on CBOT increased by 14.50 ¢/bushel; SRW wheat on the same exchange decreased by 3.25 ¢/bushel; HRW wheat on KCBT increased by 1.50 ¢/bushel; HRS wheat on MGE increased by 0.75 ¢/bushel; oats on CBOT increased by 6.00 ¢/bushel; rough rice on CBOT increased by 0.10 USD/cwt.

Russia increased its wheat flour exports by 3% next year, reaching $300 million. Afghanistan became the largest buyer. China and Turkmenistan also entered the top 3 importers. Export prospects include Asian countries, Arab states, and Africa. By 2030, exports could exceed $440 million.

Starting from January 15, 2025, customs duties are changing:

• Wheat and meslin: decrease to 4245.0 rub/ton
• Barley: increase to 2542.9 rub/ton
• Corn: increase to 4436.4 rub/ton

Import duties will be effective 3 working days after publication.

Andrey Shindelov reported that in the Novosibirsk region two thirds of the wheat crop correspond to grades 3 and 4. Out of 3240 samples, the grain quality assessment is as follows: 22.4% - grade 3, 41% - grade 4, 35% - grade 5. In 2024, the crop amounted to 1,570,393.9 tons.

On December 10, 2024, 13 wheat contracts with a total volume of 2875 tons were sold on the Russian commodity exchanges at a price of 17,982 rubles per ton.

The average price in dollars is $180.86 at the Central Bank exchange rate.

Wheat prices on the world markets increased from December 20th to December 27th, 2024. Russian wheat prices decreased, and the CPT Novorossiysk index fell. The grain harvest in Russia decreased, while the volume of grain exports from Russia and Ukraine increased.

Kazakhstan harvested 26.7 million tons of grains.
