The President of Latvia supported the idea put forward by the Minister of Agriculture to discuss restricting the supply of Russian grain to the EU. The topics of the meeting also included a reduction in VAT on fruits and vegetables.

The President endorsed the idea of discussing restrictions on the import of grain from Russia while preserving transit.

During a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture of Latvia, Armands Krauze, the head of the state, Edgars Rinkēvičs, expressed support for the minister's initiative to discuss the restriction of Russian grain supplies to the countries of the European Union. This information was spread by the LETA agency, referring to Interfax.

The meeting also discussed key tasks in the field of agriculture and the current situation in this sector, including the possible reduction of VAT rates on fresh fruits and vegetables. This was reported by the media center representative of the President's Chancellery, Elīna Kresa.

The President expressed support for the idea of ​​discussing restrictions on the import of Russian grain into EU countries, provided that transit through their territory to third countries is maintained in order not to hinder food supplies to countries of the Global South.
