Over the past decade, the number of grain storage facilities in Kazakhstan has increased by 7 million tons.
Agricultural producers mostly build storage facilities in the northern regions, which are the main areas for growing grain crops, including in the Akmola and North Kazakhstan regions. This year, new storage facilities with a capacity of about 100 thousand tons were put into operation, as reported by the portal "24KZ," citing Marlen Ospanov, the head of the Plant Growing Development Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
He also noted that the total capacity of grain storage facilities in Kazakhstan is 30 million tons, of which more than 13 million are located in elevators, and over 16 million belong to agricultural producers.
Currently, active work is underway in the country to prepare the material and technical base for receiving the new harvest. According to the Ministry of Agriculture's estimates, favorable weather conditions allow forecasting an above-average harvest and the possibility of achieving a record grain volume.
The department emphasized that the existing capacities of elevators, grain storehouses, and grain silos are sufficient for storing the grain harvest at the average volume and grain reserves for the next period.
