International Grains Council (IGC) in its March report, in addition to revised data on agricultural production for 2024/2025, presented initial forecasts for grain and wheat production volumes for 2025/2026.
2024/2025
The forecast for world grain harvest for the 2024/2025 season (July 2024-June 2025) has been increased compared to the previous estimate in February to 2,305.9 million tonnes (+4.4 million). The forecast for the world wheat harvest has also been raised to 799.2 million tonnes (+2.5 million).
Russia
- Grain production in Russia for 2024/2025 has been increased to 117 million tonnes (+0.9 million). The forecast for wheat production remains unchanged at 81.3 million tonnes.
- Grain exports from Russia are forecasted at the level of 49.9 million tonnes (-0.1 million compared to the previous forecast). The wheat export forecast has been reduced by 1 million, to 42.7 million tonnes.
EU
- Experts have lowered the forecast for grain harvest in the European Union by 1.1 million, to 257.9 million tonnes, and slightly reduced the wheat production forecast to 119.4 million tonnes (-0.1 million).
- The EU plans to export 40.8 million tonnes of grains, which is 0.5 million less than the previous forecast. Wheat exports from Europe have also been reduced by 0.5 million compared to February, totaling 27.8 million tonnes.
Kazakhstan
- The forecast for grain production has improved to 23.6 million tonnes (+0.1 million). Wheat production remains at the same level and is forecasted at 18.6 million tonnes.
- Forecasts for grain and wheat exports have been reduced to 11.8 million tonnes (-0.2 million) and 10.2 million tonnes (-0.2 million) respectively.
Ukraine
- The grain production forecast remains at 59.5 million tonnes, and wheat production stays at 25.4 million tonnes.
- The forecast for grain export has slightly decreased. Ukraine is exporting 42.2 million tonnes of grains this season (-0.1 million compared to the previous report), including 17.4 million tonnes of wheat (unchanged).
- Maize production remains at the same level of 26.5 million tonnes. The forecast for maize export is 22 million tonnes (-0.2 million).
2025/2026
The forecast for global grain production in 2025/2026 (July 2025-June 2026) is estimated at 2,368 million tonnes. The world wheat production forecast is 806.7 million tonnes.
Russia
- The forecast for grain production in Russia for the next year is 119.6 million tonnes. The wheat production forecast is 80.6 million tonnes.
- According to estimates, grain exports from Russia will amount to 51.8 million tonnes. The wheat export forecast is estimated at 42.5 million tonnes.
EU
- In the 2025/2026 season, the European Union is expected to produce 275 million tonnes of grains, including 132.9 million tonnes of wheat.
- The EU plans to export 44.5 million tonnes of grains, including 31.1 million tonnes of wheat.
Kazakhstan
- Forecasts for grain and wheat production are 20.2 million and 15.3 million tonnes respectively.
- The forecast for grain export is 11.7 million tonnes. The wheat export forecast is 10.3 million tonnes.
Ukraine
- Grain production is expected to reach 62.9 million tonnes, and wheat production is estimated at 25.1 million tonnes.
- The forecast for grain export is 44.2 million tonnes, while for wheat it is 16.3 million tonnes.
- Maize production is forecasted at 30 million tonnes. The export forecast is 25.2 million tonnes.
