There are plans to increase rice production in the Krasnodar Region to 1.3 million tons by 2030 through expanding the sown areas to 150 thousand hectares.

Andrey Korobka reported that as part of the rice farming development program in Russia until 2030, the plan is to increase annual rice production to 1.3 million tons in the Krasnodar Krai. To achieve this goal, the possibility of expanding the sown areas is being considered. The existing land resources allow for an increase in the area under rice cultivation to 150 thousand hectares.

To ensure the necessary volume of water resources in these areas, it is necessary to clean the Krasnodar Reservoir, as its capacity is currently limited due to silt. Andrey Korobka emphasized that Governor Veniamin Ivanovich Kondratyev has already addressed this issue to the federal authorities.

Evidence of no problems with rice seeds in the region is that the Federal Rice Center fully meets the needs of Kuban rice farmers. In addition, Kuban rice varieties are successfully grown in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

The Deputy Head of the region also noted that this year the area under rice cultivation exceeds 110 thousand hectares, and the conditions for the crop ripening are favorable, with sufficient water resources available.
