According to the information presented at the meeting of the Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation on agricultural issues, as of September 18 of the current year, Russia harvested 102 million tons of grain and leguminous crops, while last year on the same date this figure was 119.8 million tons.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Maxim Uvaidov noted that adverse weather conditions played a role in reducing yields. Nevertheless, by the specified date, about 75% of the planned areas had already been harvested, which is a positive factor.
According to M. Uvaidov, the sunflower harvest amounted to 3.7 million tons, while the year before this figure was only 1.4 million tons. The rapeseed harvest was also higher this year - 3 million tons compared to 2.7 million tons last year.
"It's too early to draw conclusions about other crops," added M. Uvaidov.
The area sown with winter grain crops in Russia currently amounts to 7.5 million hectares, while on a similar date last year it was 7.9 million hectares. The total plan for sowing winter crops for the 2025 harvest year is nearly 20 million hectares, which corresponds to last year's figure.
