According to the data received, rapeseed harvest in the Russian Federation in 2024 significantly increased, reaching a record level in the entire history of cultivating this crop in the country. According to preliminary information from Rosstat, the total volume of winter and spring rapeseed harvest in 2024 amounted to 4,660.2 thousand tons, which is 10.9% (456.2 thousand tons) more than the previous year. This growth is largely due to a significant expansion of sown areas, which increased by 29.8% (628.8 thousand hectares) compared to 2023, reaching 2,740.5 thousand hectares.
However, despite the increase in harvested volumes, the yield of rapeseed for winter and spring rapeseed on average decreased. It amounted to 19.4 centners/hectare, which is 13.9% lower than last year's values.
It is important to note that the leader in rapeseed harvest in Russia in 2024 was the Krasnoyarsk Territory, where 397.7 thousand tons were collected, accounting for 8.5% of the total harvest in the country. Despite a moderate decrease in harvest in this region by 1.6% per year, the Krasnoyarsk Territory continues to hold the leading position.
The second place in rapeseed harvest is taken by the Altai Territory, where 353.5 thousand tons were collected. The harvest in this region increased by 23.9% in a year, and its share in the total harvest in the country was 7.6%.
In addition to the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Altai Territory, the Top 10 regions in terms of rapeseed harvest in 2024 included the Oryol Region (326.1 thousand tons; share in the total harvest – 7.0%), the Bryansk Region (283.0 thousand tons; 6.1%), the Republic of Tatarstan (275.2 thousand tons; 5.9%), the Novosibirsk Region (264.7 thousand tons; 5.7%), the Tula Region (252.2 thousand tons; 5.4%), the Kemerovo Region (249.3 thousand tons; 5.3%), the Omsk Region (227.7 thousand tons; 4.9%), and the Kursk Region (205.4 thousand tons; 4.4%).
