Garlic is widely cultivated all over the planet, and in Kabardino-Balkaria, there are perfect conditions for its cultivation: the crop requires warm conditions throughout the bulb formation process.
In addition, farmers make good use of fertilizers. Garlic has a limited ability to absorb nutrients due to its non-succulent, superficial root system.
The use of fertilizers plays a key role in increasing the growth of garlic bulbs, enhancing yield and commercial quality while maintaining the quality of the bulbs. Application of mineral fertilizers in sufficient quantities contributes to improving leaf area and garlic yield.
In Kabardino-Balkaria, 3.7 thousand tons of garlic were harvested in 2024, which is 12% higher than the previous year's crop, according to Rosstat data.
Garlic is a popular plant for the local residents of the republic. It is worth noting that the average garlic yield last year was 128.3 c/ha, which is 12% higher than the 2023 figure and 30% above the average yield of the crop in Russia as a whole.
