In late December 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia appealed to the Federal Antimonopoly Service with a request to present proposals to the Government of the Russian Federation on the possibility of indexing domestic prices for fertilizers. This was reported by the TASS news agency citing the ministry's press service.
The Ministry noted that it sent a letter to the FAS Russia at the end of December of the previous year after analyzing the possibility of indexing maximum prices for quota mineral fertilizers.
Earlier, the Federal Antimonopoly Service had already announced that domestic prices for fertilizers in Russia were fixed at the level of September 2022.
According to an industry source, in November of the previous year, fertilizer producers appealed to the Ministry of Industry and Trade to index domestic prices by 15% starting January 2025.
The maximum prices for fertilizers were set by producers in 2021 following FAS recommendations. In June 2022, prices were indexed by 5%, and in September by 5-10%. There was no indexing in 2023 and 2024. Industry information also indicates that the fixation of "frozen" fertilizer prices in Russia will be extended until May 2025.
