The harvest of 2025 in the regions of Southern Russia is already halfway through, however, the work is hindered by intense heat and drought. At the same time, in the Central part of the country, rains are preventing combines from heading to the fields. A detailed overview of the current state of harvest in the Volga, Southern, and Central Federal Districts is presented in the publication Field.RF.

In the Krasnodar region, the main breadbasket of Russia, by July 15, the harvest was already collected from 1.452 million hectares (planned to harvest from 1.931 million hectares), according to the Kuban Agricultural Information and Advisory Center. The total volume of harvested grain reached 6.6 million tons with a yield of 45.4 centners per hectare. Currently, the threshing of winter barley with a yield of 926.93 thousand tons at 58.4 centners per hectare is completed. 72% of winter wheat has been harvested, with a total collection of 5.3 million tons at a yield of 46.3 centners per hectare.
By July 16, farmers in the Stavropol region successfully harvested 7.1 million tons of grain and leguminous crops, threshing approximately 73% of the total areas. The source of this data is the newspaper "Stavropolskaya Pravda," referring to the information from the Ministry of Agriculture of the region.
The average yield in the region was 43.7 centners per hectare, exceeding the indicators of the previous year.
However, due to the intense heat with temperatures over +30 degrees, there were cases of field fires. For example, the Emergency Situations Ministry of Stavropol reported a fire on 120 hectares of wheat fields. The region's governor, Vladimir Vladimirov, instructed to take measures to control the fire hazard situation in the upcoming season.
In the Rostov region, the harvest campaign is nearing completion: by July 15, 47% of the areas were harvested, with around 3.5 million tons of grain and leguminous crops collected. The data was provided by the regional government. Statistics include harvesting 1.3 million tons of winter wheat, almost 22 thousand tons of winter barley, 78 thousand tons of spring barley, over 136 thousand tons of peas, and the process of harvesting oats and triticale.
“The current year is complicated by weather conditions, but the main tasks remain unchanged: it is necessary to harvest the crop as quickly as possible. The Don region will provide itself with grain crops, including seed material, and will even be able to export surpluses. In addition to harvesting operations, pre-sowing preparation of land for sowing winter crops for the 2026 harvest is also being carried out in agricultural enterprises,” emphasized the deputy governor of the region, Sergey Bodryakov.

By July 16, agricultural producers in the Lipetsk region threshed more than 26 thousand hectares and harvested 118 thousand tons of grain. The average yield was 45 centners per hectare. This year, early grain and leguminous crops cover an area of 705 thousand hectares, of which 312 thousand hectares are accounted for by winter wheat.
“It is worth noting that the Lipetsk region traditionally ranks as one of the leaders in the Russian agro-industrial complex. The start of the harvest campaign always requires special responsibility from our agricultural producers. We understand the variability of the weather, but we are confident that we will cope together!” emphasized the deputy governor of the region, Ilya Karlin.
Agriculturists in the Oryol region have started harvesting, with over 2 thousand hectares of wheat, barley, and oats threshed by July 17. The average yield is 46 centners per hectare, according to information published on the governor of the region Andrey Klychkov's Telegram channel.
“Despite the rainy and cool weather in July, our agricultural producers did not delay starting the harvest campaign within the established deadlines. I remind you that the total sown area in the region exceeds 1.3 million hectares. We have all the opportunities to set new records!” he wrote.
In mid-July, farmers in the Voronezh region began harvesting. It is planned to thresh about 2.7 million hectares, including 1.5 million hectares of spring crops, as stated by the Deputy Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, former governor of the region, Alexei Gordeev.
“At the moment, 105 thousand hectares of early grain and leguminous crops, including winter wheat, barley, oats, peas, and spring wheat, have been threshed. The best yield, over 50 centners per hectare, was recorded in the Anninsky and Liskinsky districts,” Gordeev noted.
