August 22nd. According to the press service of the government of the Stavropol Krai, local farmers are actively harvesting sunflower used for oil production.
According to the government data, the harvest is taking place in seven different districts of the region. At the moment, 37.5 thousand tons of sunflower have already been harvested, with a yield of 22 centners per hectare.
The press service also quotes the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the region, Artem Ilyin, saying: "Sunflower is one of the main products of the oil and fat industry oriented for export. Since the beginning of the year, about 39.7 thousand tons of sunflower oil from the region have been exported. This indicates the high quality of the products and the growing demand for this category of goods."
It is also worth noting that the region's farms have completed the sowing campaign, during which various agricultural crops were planted, including sunflower.
