Note: This article presents alternative statistics on the export of sunflower seeds and products of their processing (oil, meal, and cake) from Russia to Kazakhstan. It is based not on the data of the Federal Customs Service of Russia, but on parallel data provided by the National Statistics Bureau of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the import of sunflower seeds and their processed products into Kazakhstan from Russia.
Prices are calculated by dividing the declared cost of supplies by the volume of supplies at the Kazakhstani customs. Therefore, the calculated price presented here takes into account charges and duties in Russia, as well as transportation from Russia, but does not include charges and duties in Kazakhstan.
This indicator is just an approximate measure of market trends and may slightly differ from actual market prices.
Volume of Sunflower Seed and Their Processing Supplies from Russia to Kazakhstan
In 2023, according to the National Statistics Bureau of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan, supplies of sunflower seeds and their processing from Russia to Kazakhstan amounted to 2.1 thousand tons. This is 69.1% (4.7 thousand tons) less than in 2022.
From January to October 2024, the volume of imports of sunflower seeds and their processing from Russia to Kazakhstan amounted to 19.3 thousand tons, which is 18.0 thousand tons more than in the same period of 2023. Prices for Sunflower Seeds and Their Processing, Supplied from Russia to Kazakhstan
In 2023, the average cost of supplies of sunflower seeds and their processing from Russia to Kazakhstan was 122.9 USD/ton, which is 3.4% higher than the previous year. In ruble equivalent, prices increased by 43.2% to 11,107 RUB/ton.
From January to October 2024, the prices of sunflower seeds and their processing supplied from Russia to Kazakhstan were 231.8 USD/ton, which is 2.1 times higher than the average prices for the same period in 2023. In ruble equivalent, the cost was 21,211 RUB/ton (a 2.1-fold increase).
In October 2024, the average cost of exporting sunflower seeds and their processing from Russia at the Kazakhstani customs was 240.5 USD/ton, which is 73.8% higher than a year ago. In ruble equivalent, prices increased by 72.1% to 23,124 RUB/ton.
