According to the Altai Region Statistics Office report, during the period of January-April 2024, the production of food products in the Altai Region increased by 3.7% compared to the previous year. The growth was driven by successful production of certain goods, especially with high demand for vegetable oils.
Thus, the production of refined vegetable oils increased by 37%, reaching 47.7 thousand tons, while unrefined oils increased by 33.1%, reaching 174.5 thousand tons.
In the dairy industry, the quantity of produced cheeses increased by 8.1%, reaching 21.8 thousand tons.
There is also noted growth in the production of confectionery products by 4.5% (up to 7.7 thousand tons), pasta products by 2.8% (up to 34.6 thousand tons), flour by 1.4% (up to 275.5 thousand tons), and bread and bakery products by 1.3% (up to 27.9 thousand tons), including semi-finished products.
This year, the reserves of oilseed crops in Altai exceed the indicators of the previous year. For instance, the sunflower-seeded areas cover 818 thousand hectares, which is 30 thousand hectares more than in 2023. Rapeseed occupies 220 thousand hectares, which is 55 thousand hectares more than last year. And the areas allocated for soybeans amount to 184 thousand hectares, exceeding the 2023 figure by 29 thousand hectares.
