Production of corn will reach a historical maximum, but wheat production will decrease in the next season.

The forecast for global corn production in 2025 has been raised to 1.274 billion tons due to improved yields in the USA and countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The forecast for wheat production has been reduced to 806 million tons due to revised data from the USA.

In the April report of the International Grains Council (IGC), the forecast for global corn production in 2025/26 was raised to 1.274 billion tonnes, exceeding the March estimate by 5 million tonnes.

This increase is driven by improved yield forecasts in the United States and countries in Sub-Saharan Africa: production in the U.S. is estimated at 397.4 million tonnes, which is 3.2 million tonnes higher than the previous estimate, while in Sub-Saharan Africa it is 89.6 million tonnes, up by 2.2 million tonnes.

However, the forecast for global wheat production in the upcoming season was lowered by 1 million tonnes to 806 million tonnes, mainly due to a revision of the grain production estimate in the U.S.
