Grain harvest forecast for 2024/2025: changes in global production leaders.

The global grain harvest forecast for 2024/2025 has been raised to 2.315 billion tons. The wheat harvest volume has been reduced to 798 million tons. In Russia, it is expected to harvest 119.2 million tons of grain, with exports reaching 52.5 million tons. In the EU, grain collection decreased to 263.7 million tons, while in Ukraine, the grain harvest increased to 59 million tons, with exports of 39.9 million tons.

In the International Grains Council (IGC) report for September, a forecast for the grain harvest in 2024/2025 is provided. It has been raised to 2.315.4 billion tons, which is 500,000 tons more than the previous estimate. The forecast for wheat harvest, on the other hand, has been reduced to 798 million tons, which is 1.1 million tons less.

Situation in Russia

  • The forecast for grain harvest in Russia in 2024/2025 has been reduced by 200,000 tons to 119.2 million tons. The forecast for wheat harvest remains unchanged at 81.8 million tons.
  • An export of 52.5 million tons of grain from Russia is expected, which is 300,000 tons more than the previous forecast. The forecast for wheat export has been increased to 43.7 million tons, which is 500,000 tons more.

Situation in the European Union

  • The EU's grain harvest forecast has been reduced by 3.8 million tons to 263.7 million tons. The forecast for wheat has also been lowered from 124.8 million to 122.4 million tons.
  • An export of 43.4 million tons of grain from the EU is expected, which is 3.7 million tons less than the previous estimate. In particular, wheat export will amount to 29 million tons, which is 3.4 million tons less than in August.

Situation in Kazakhstan

  • Forecasts for grain and wheat harvest in Kazakhstan remain unchanged at 20.3 million and 16 million tons, respectively.
  • The grain export forecast remains at 11.7 million tons, and the wheat export forecast is 10.3 million tons.

Situation in Ukraine

  • The grain harvest forecast in Ukraine has been raised to 59 million tons, which is 400,000 tons more than the previous estimate. The wheat harvest forecast remains at 25.4 million tons.
  • The forecasts for grain and wheat export have also been raised. An export of 39.9 million tons of grain is expected, which is 1.7 million tons more than the previous forecast. In particular, wheat export will amount to 16.2 million tons, which is 1.2 million tons more.
  • The corn harvest forecast remains at 26 million tons. Corn export is expected to be 21.6 million tons.
