According to information provided by the European Commission, from the beginning of the 2024/25 season until March 4, EU countries exported 14.7 million tons of wheat and its processed products, which is 37% less than the same period of the previous season.
Special attention should be paid to the export of soft wheat, which amounted to 13.94 million tons during the specified period, a 30% decrease compared to the previous year. The main buyers were Egypt, Nigeria, Morocco, the United Kingdom, and Algeria, which ordered 882.4 thousand, 2.01 million, 1.6 million, 1.02 million, and 1.01 million tons of European soft wheat, respectively.
As for the export of durum wheat from the European Union countries, this season's quantity was 427.1 thousand tons, which is 2% more than last year. The major consumers this season are Tunisia and Algeria, which ordered 181 thousand and 113 thousand tons of durum wheat, respectively.
