Last week, the prices for Russian wheat exports with 12.5% protein, to be delivered in April-May, decreased by one dollar to $249 per ton on free on board terms. The analytical center "Rusagrotrans" reported that the prices for the new crop of wheat for delivery in July-August remained at $230-235 per ton.
Leading competitor countries also faced price declines. Romanian wheat decreased by one dollar, French wheat by two dollars, American wheat by five dollars, and Argentine wheat by three dollars, reaching $247, $242, $226, and $247 per ton respectively. Meanwhile, the price of Australian wheat increased by two dollars to $250 per ton.
The wheat futures market also experienced a downturn due to several factors, including the rapid pace of spring wheat and corn planting in the USA, current and forecasted rains in regions where winter wheat is grown, and the continuing trade war between the USA and China, as noted by analysts.
The cost of wheat with 12.5% protein in deep-water ports remained unchanged from the previous week, at 17.7-17.8 thousand rubles per ton excluding VAT. However, on the shallow waterways, prices dropped by 200 rubles to 16.8 thousand rubles per ton.
In the domestic wheat market last week, prices remained largely stable. In the South of Russia, 4th grade wheat was priced at 16-16.2 thousand rubles per ton (on EXW elevator terms), while in the Central part of the country, prices ranged from 15.7 to 16.1 thousand rubles per ton, and in the Volga region, they were at 15.3-16 thousand rubles per ton. In Siberia, prices for 4th grade wheat increased by 100 rubles compared to the previous week, averaging at 11.4-12 thousand rubles per ton.
