The Minister of Agriculture and Food of Belarus, Yuri Gorlov, and the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources, Climate, and Settlements of Zimbabwe, Vangelis Charitatos, held a working meeting where the intentions of foreign partners regarding the acquisition of Belarusian milk, sunflower oil, and agricultural machinery were announced, as reported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
The visit of the delegation from Zimbabwe to the international specialized exhibition called "Belagro-2025" indicates the desire to establish bilateral cooperation in the agro-industrial complex.
The parties discussed specific proposals to increase the volume of agricultural product supplies and expand the range. In 2024, Belarus' exports to the specified African country included skimmed milk powder, while Belarus imported citrus fruits and flowers. However, experts believe that the prospects for cooperation are much broader.
"We are ready not only to maintain our current positions but also to move forward to supply a wider range of dairy products, including products for children's nutrition, and deepen interaction in other areas," emphasized Yuri Gorlov.
"Zimbabwe's demand for milk amounts to 130 million liters annually, and at the moment, we produce 120 million liters. These figures demonstrate our interest in this product. In addition, there is a demand for sunflower oil and agricultural machinery," evaluated Vangelis Charitatos the level of professionalism and organization of production in Belarus.
It was noted that already this year Zimbabwe may be recognized as a country providing full food security. According to a representative of the delegation from Zimbabwe, the mechanization of agriculture, including the use of Belarusian equipment, played an important role in this.
"It is thanks to Belarusian machinery, its efficiency, and our cooperation that we have realized the value of our land heritage and how much benefit it can bring. We must continue in this direction and develop cooperation to achieve even more significant results," said the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources, Climate, and Settlements of Zimbabwe.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food concludes: the meeting was an important step in deepening bilateral relations and opened up new prospects for practical cooperation in agriculture between Belarus and Zimbabwe.
