In the Volovsky district and the Gryazinsky district, a plan for sunflower breeding is being implemented, while in the Dobrinsky district, they are focusing on both sunflower and spring rapeseed.

Currently, 57.2 thousand hectares of spring crops have already been sown in the region. The total area allocated for spring crops this year exceeds 1 million hectares. The largest areas are occupied by grain and leguminous crops. Currently, over 52 thousand hectares have been sown with spring wheat, barley, peas, and oats.

Spring rapeseed and sunflower cover 3 thousand hectares out of the total planned 427 thousand. 2.2 thousand hectares have been sown with annual grasses.

"This spring season, our farmers are expected to sow over 1 million hectares. The largest field, as usual, is allocated for grain and leguminous crops. The areas occupied by sugar beets and oilseeds will increase by two percent," shared Yekaterina Markova, the Minister of Agriculture of the Lipetsk region.

The total sowing area in the region in 2025 will reach 1 million 406 thousand hectares.
