The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has proposed to increase the quota for rice imports from Vietnam to Russia by 1.6%. Meanwhile, Belarus is facing a potential 0.6% reduction in its quota.

The import limit for rice from Vietnam to Russia in 2025 will increase by 1.6% to 7403 tons. Belarus is expected to decrease by 0.6% to 2447 tons. The quota for Armenia will decrease to 150 tons. Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan do not use the quota. The total limit in the EAEU is 10,000 tons of long-grain rice.

It is projected that the duty-free rice import limit from Vietnam to Russia in 2025 will increase by 1.6%, while a decrease of 0.6% is planned for Belarus, according to the Finmarket portal.

According to the draft resolution of the EEC published on the official website of the commission, it is proposed to increase the quota for Russia to 7,403 tons. This year, it amounts to 7,288 tons. In turn, the limit for Belarus may be reduced from 2,462 tons to 2,447 tons.

Following the project's proposal, the quota for Armenia will be reduced to 150 tons, while this year it stands at 250 tons. Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan do not utilize the quota for rice imports from Vietnam.

The total limit volume is 10,000 tons, exclusively for long-grain rice, which is virtually not grown in Russia.

The establishment of a quota for duty-free rice imports into the Eurasian Economic Union countries is part of the free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and Vietnam dated May 29, 2015.
