During the annual agronomic meeting in Blagoveshchensk, held on March 21, 2025, Valentina Basenko, Deputy Director of the Amur branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "National Center for Plant Protection and Quarantine" presented her report on the harmful soybean cyst nematode (Heterodera glycines) in the Amur region.
In her presentation, she revealed the characteristics of this parasite, capable of reducing soybean yields by up to 80% depending on the level of soil infestation.
The report also included an analysis of the spread of soybean nematodes in the region over the past three years. Valentina Basenko highlighted the importance of timely detection of this quarantine object to prevent mass crop infestation.
