Turkey is actively expanding wheat cultivation areas, but it is worth noting that the main focus is on increasing durum crop yields, while the soft wheat crop remains stable.

Standard data shows that Turkey currently imports only 3% of the global total wheat volume. However, this season, due to significant reserves, this share has decreased to 1%, as reported by Dr. Eren Günhan Ulusoy at the Global Grain and Pulses open forum.

The expert predicts that after the restrictions on wheat imports are lifted, there is no need to expect a sharp increase in imports, as the new local wheat crop will be available in the market as early as June.
