Russian sunflower harvest sets records: an increase of 941 thousand hectares has been announced, corresponding to 105% of the plan.

The sunflower crop in Russia by June 20, 2025 covers 11.4 million hectares, which is 941 thousand hectares more than last year. The largest increase in sowing areas was recorded in the Siberian Federal District (+119%), with 4.95 million hectares planted in the Volga Federal District. Half of the federal districts have exceeded the planned targets. The projected harvest for the new season is 17.3 million tonnes.

The sunflower harvest in Russia by June 20, 2025 covers an area of 11.4 million hectares, exceeding last year's figures by 941 thousand hectares and corresponding to 105% of the plan, according to information spread by the OleoScope portal.

The most significant increase in sowing is observed in the Siberian Federal District, where 119% of the planned volume has been reached, exceeding last year's figures by 256 thousand hectares. The largest area for oilseed crops was planted in the Volga Federal District - 4.95 million hectares, which is only 110% of the planned volumes”, explained the report.

It is noted that in half of the eight federal districts, farmers have exceeded the planned indicators for growing oilseed crops.

Earlier it was announced that the expected sunflower harvest in the new season will be 17.3 million tons.
