Russian grain suppliers are aiming to take the lead in the Mexican market by exploring new ways to combat weeds.

At the All-Russian Grain Forum, the deputy head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) stated that Russian grain suppliers are now the second largest in terms of volume of supplies to Mexico and are aiming to become leaders. Grain exports have increased by 14%: to Mexico - 297.6 thousand tons since the beginning of 2024. Purchases of grain have also increased by countries such as India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Georgia, Iraq, and others.

At the All-Russian Grain Forum in Sochi, the deputy head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor), Anton Karmazin, stated that Russian grain suppliers now hold the second position in terms of volume of shipments to Mexico and intend to become leaders in this market. Russian wheat is in demand, and Mexico fully supports this prospect. However, the issue of having to deal with weeds carefully is a problem that needs attention.

According to Rosselkhoznadzor, in 2023, 989.6 thousand tons of Russian wheat were exported to Mexico. In the current year, 297.6 thousand tons have already been shipped from the beginning of 2024 to May 26. In total, during this period, 36.9 million tons of Russian grain were exported to external markets, which is 14% higher than the same period last year (32.4 million tons).

Anton Karmazin noted that India is one of the countries that significantly increased purchases of Russian grain. From the beginning of 2024 to May 26, they increased purchases by 89 times compared to the same period in 2023. They also increased purchases in Vietnam (by 26 times), Indonesia (by 9 times), Bangladesh (by 3 times), Georgia (by 3 times), Iraq (by 3 times), Tunisia (by 2 times), Uzbekistan (by 3 times), Syria (+77%), Kenya (+72%), Saudi Arabia (+63%), Iran (+39%).
