According to the National Oilseed Processors Association of the United States (NOPA), the soybean processing volume in the country reached 5.5 million metric tons in April 2025, exceeding the April 2024 level by 14% and setting a record for this month according to Oil World data.
This increase in processing was driven by increased domestic consumption and a resurgence in demand for soybean oil from biodiesel producers. However, soybean oil stocks in April rose to the highest level in the past 10 months, reaching 950 thousand metric tons by the end of the month.
At the same time, exports remained moderate due to higher prices compared to South American products.
The total soybean processing volume since the beginning of the current season (September 2024 to April 2025) has reached a record 44.7 million metric tons, surpassing the 42.2 million tons for the same period in 2023/24 and the 40.6 million tons average for the last 5 years.
