According to the head of "Legend Agro" company, excessively large soybean planting areas are hindering progress in agricultural technologies.
In the Far East, excessive soy plantings impede progress in agrotechnologies. To support exports and the development of the agricultural industry, a proposal was made to pay attention to alternative high-demand crops. This statement was made by the general director of "Legend Agro" company, Dmitry Savenkov, at the Russian-Chinese forum "Great Ussuri Island: Cooperation in Joint Development of the Island."
"When 70-80% of land in the Far Eastern Federal District is used for soybeans, it is unfavorable for agricultural technologies. There is an increase in soybean nematode (a type of parasites), crop yields decrease, and so on. Therefore, in our opinion, the most promising direction now is the development of crop rotations. Special attention should be paid to cereal crops: corn, wheat, barley. These traditional cereal crops are in demand both in the Khabarovsk Territory and in the Asia-Pacific countries," commented Savenkov.
The main events of the Russian-Chinese forum "Great Ussuri Island: Cooperation in Joint Development of the Island" are taking place on May 19-20 in Khabarovsk. The event is organized with the participation of the Khabarovsk Territory government with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, VEB.RF, and the Russian Export Center. The Roscongress Foundation acts as the operator. The event program covers a wide range of topics, including industrial cooperation, transportation, trade, tourism, ecology, and intercultural interaction. The forum will bring together over a thousand participants from businesses, government authorities, and experts at more than 30 venues.
