During the first five months of 2024, farmers in the Rostov region achieved new records in grain exports. The total volume of exports reached 10.6 million tons, which is 10% higher than the results of the previous year. During this period, grain exports brought the region's farmers $2.5 billion, according to the Interfax State Agency.

The farmers successfully sell their products in more than 100 countries around the world. Among the main trading partners for grain are Egypt, Turkey, Bangladesh, as well as countries in the Persian Gulf, Southeast Asia, and North Africa. Last year, Indonesia showed serious interest in wheat from the Rostov region and became one of the new important consumers.

The share of African countries in the total volume of agricultural exports from the Rostov region reached 26%, noted Konstantin Rachalovsky, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the region.

The growth in exports of leguminous crops continues and almost doubles. The demand for niche crops is increasing every year.

Exports also continue to the food and processing industry. The products successfully exported include animal feed and bran, livestock products and processing, such as meat, sausage products, ice cream, and butter.

Grain prices on the global market experienced a decline, but in the second quarter of 2024, there was an 11% increase compared to the same period last year, according to Minister Rachalovsky.

Purchase prices for grain also increased. The price of 3rd and 4th class wheat rose by 25%, fodder wheat by 42%, and barley by 22%.
