In 38 districts of our republic, sowing work has already begun. Out of the total area planned to be sown this season, 115 thousand hectares have already been sown. These are mainly early spring crops, as reported by the Ministry of Agriculture of Tatarstan.
"This year, our main task is to increase the pace of sowing work," shared the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, Marat Zyabbarov. "If we miss the optimal sowing dates by two weeks, the crop yield of grain crops may decrease by up to 15 centners per hectare."
The condition of winter crops is generally assessed positively after the analysis conducted. Out of the total area where winter crops are grown (485 thousand hectares), 97% are in good or satisfactory condition.
Top dressing of winter crops and perennial grasses was carried out on an area of 680 thousand hectares, which constitutes 82% of the total area.
According to the Republic Hydrometeorological Center, the first data on soil moisture content have been obtained. Almost on all tested plots, the soil moisture content is sufficient. In the meter-deep soil layer, the average moisture content is 176 mm, and in the plow layer - 40 mm of precipitation.
Harrowing of crops and harrowing of fallow land was carried out on an area of 1 million 470 thousand hectares, which constitutes 59% of the total volume of tasks for this period.
