According to Finmarket, the quota for duty-free rice imports from Vietnam to Russia in 2025 may increase by 1.6%, while in Belarus it may decrease by 0.6%.
According to the draft decision posted on the website of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the proposed quota for Russia is 7,403 tons, compared to 7,288 tons this year. The quota for Belarus may be 2,447 tons compared to 2,462 tons.
Within the quota, the quota for rice imports from Vietnam to Armenia, according to the project, will be 150 tons, compared to 250 tons this year. Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan do not import rice from Vietnam under the quota.
The total quota is 10 thousand tons. Duty-free rice import to Russia is limited to long-grain rice, which is practically not produced in the country.
The establishment of a quota for duty-free rice imports into the Eurasian Economic Union countries was provided for by the Free Trade Agreement between the EAEU and Vietnam dated May 29, 2015.
