In order to achieve this goal, it is planned to launch three rapeseed processing plants in the region. By 2029, processing capacities for rapeseed in the Krasnoyarsk Territory are planned to be created, capable of fully processing the harvest collected in the region. The total project capacity will amount to 450,000 tons, stated Ilya Vasiliev, the Minister of Agriculture of the region.
"A huge amount of rapeseed is produced in our region. We are indeed leaders in Russia. By 2024, we produced over 400,000 tons of this raw material with a project processing capacity of only 70,000 tons. We have developed a strategy to establish processing plants in the region by 2029. Our goal over these years is to create enough capacities for all rapeseed grown in the Krasnoyarsk Territory to be processed here," Vasiliev said.
According to the minister, in 2024, a rapeseed processing plant with a capacity of 72,000 tons was launched in the Uzhur district. "In 2025, the plant in Achinsk with a capacity of about 64,000 tons is planned to be launched. In 2026, the commissioning of the third plant with a capacity of 72,000 tons is planned in the Uyar district. Currently, a large-scale plant project is underway in the Nazarovo district, with a capacity of up to 160,000 tons. By 2029, we plan to achieve rapeseed processing capacity in the Krasnoyarsk Territory of 450-500,000 tons," he explained.
The minister also added that the rapeseed sowing areas in the region will not significantly increase. "We are guided by scientific recommendations and understand that we will have about 500,000 tons of raw material that we will be able to process," Vasiliev added.
The Krasnoyarsk Territory has been the leader in Russia in rapeseed seed production for the past six years. In 2023, 297.7 thousand hectares were allocated for agricultural crops in the region, and in 2024, farmers harvested about 458.6 thousand tons of rapeseed. The yield is 15.9 centners per hectare, which is above the average in the Siberian Federal District, where the yield is 15.2 centners per hectare.
