According to the report of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, only Penza region has surpassed Kaliningrad region with a total result of 10,840 kg, while Krasnodar region is ranked third with a value of 8,531 kg per dairy cow.
In recent years, Kaliningrad region has consistently been one of the leaders in the dairy industry of Russia in terms of milk production levels. For example, in 2023, the indicators reached 9,830 kg.
Experts from the Ministry of Agriculture of Kaliningrad region attribute the rapid growth of these indicators to the modernization and construction of new modern livestock complexes, as well as to the improvement of technological management, including the optimization of animal husbandry and feeding systems.
A significant impact on increasing milk production volumes in the region is the replacement of old cows with highly efficient Holstein cows on farms. One such cow is capable of producing over 10,000 kg of milk per year. Currently, there are around 33 thousand dairy cows in various farms in the region.
