In the Krasnodar region, in the Ministry of Agriculture, it was reported that agricultural products have become more expensive after a dry summer. This was reported by the publication "KP-Kuban".
Due to the heat, corn and sunflower suffered. The corn harvest decreased by more than half, and the sunflower harvest decreased by 50%. As a result, sunflower prices have risen - farmers are selling seeds 40% more expensive compared to last year. Such price increase will affect the cost of oil from the new harvest.
The harvest export is not yet complete, but farmers are already talking about a decrease in sugar beet and soybean yields. At the same time, the Ministry of Agriculture notes that the produced harvest is sufficient to meet the internal demand in the region.
Anton Trenin, an expert on corporate ratings, said that if at the end of August a ton of sunflower cost 34.6 thousand rubles, then in October the price rose to 37.4 thousand. In Kuban, the price per ton of sunflower increased by 2 thousand rubles and is 35.8 thousand rubles. Compared to prices a year ago, the growth exceeded 40%.
This price increase may continue due to high exports of vegetable oil to external markets and fierce competition among plants for raw materials.
As for corn, prices have not changed yet, but judging by the yield, which may be the lowest in recent years, there are still challenges ahead.
The current price of corn corresponds to last year's figures and amounts to 12.5 thousand rubles per ton.
It is worth noting that since the beginning of 2024, the Krasnodar region has exported 3.8 million tons of grain. Wheat was the most exported. Its cost amounted to 640 million dollars. The Krasnodar region supplied wheat to 33 countries, which is nine countries more than in the same period last year.
