It is known that export prices for Russian wheat with a protein content of 12.5% delivered in May-June have decreased to $248 per ton FOB, which is $1 lower than two weeks ago, according to the analytical center "Rusagrotrans". Analysts say that demand for old crop wheat is low, but prices for new crop have fallen to $227 per ton, remaining higher than a year ago ($220 per ton). Wheat prices in competing countries have also fallen: French - to $231, German - to $245, American - to $219, Argentine - to $234, Australian - to $249. The cost of Romanian wheat has risen to $249 per ton.
Changes in the wheat futures market occurred earlier last week due to the May report from the USDA on improving crop conditions and rains in Russia, but then the market resumed its growth, according to "Rusagrotrans". Forecasts for the 2025/26 season have shown that global wheat production could reach 808.5 million tons, and wheat stocks by the end of 2025/26 are expected to be higher than market expectations.
Experts believe that rains in the European part of Russia will continue to increase the overall soil moisture level, except for some areas in the Rostov and Volgograd regions. Several cases of frost in Central Russia have damaged winter crops and destroyed some spring crops, mainly sugar beets.
According to "Rusagrotrans", prices for wheat with a protein content of 12.5% in deep-water ports have fallen by 750 rubles to 17,000 rubles per ton without VAT compared to the previous two weeks. In low-water areas, prices have dropped to 15,800 rubles per ton, while exporter activity remained low.
On the domestic wheat market, there has been a slight weakening over the past two weeks. In the south, prices for 4th class wheat have decreased to 15,600-16,200 rubles per ton without VAT (EXW elevator), in the Volga region - to 15,500 rubles per ton, and in the Central region remained at 15,700-16,100 rubles per ton. At the same time, prices for feed wheat in Siberia have slightly increased due to higher domestic demand: prices for 4th class wheat have increased to 11,400-12,700 rubles per ton.
