In 2024, Rostov Region significantly increased the areas for sowing sunflower seeds and corn. As Deputy Governor and Minister of Agriculture and Food Konstantin Rachalovsky shared at the "All-Russian Field Day 2024" exhibition in Mineralnye Vody, the area for sunflower seeds grew by 1.8 times reaching 3.3 thousand hectares, while corn planting areas increased by 1.5 times, totaling 300 hectares.
He explained that the expansion of sunflower seed sowing areas will allow the production of 2.3 thousand tons of seeds, covering 68% of the demand. Regarding corn seed plantings, the use of domestic seeds will result in producing 500 tons of seeds, meeting 19% of the requirement.
"Phytosanitary situation in the fields is under control, including reprocessing. The total treated area amounts to 6.2 million hectares," Rachalovsky reported.
According to him, the demand for mineral fertilizers for spring field work has been fully satisfied. Fertilizer prices have been stable for over two years, with minor fluctuations within 2-5%, both in positive and negative directions, noted the Deputy Governor, who also serves as the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the region.
Rachalovsky emphasized that all necessary agrochemical work has been carried out in Rostov Region on winter crops, including top dressing of winter wheat across the entire area.
"Rostov Region presents modern developments in agricultural machinery at the 'All-Russian Field Day.' Our delegation actively participates in all business program events of the forum, including visiting the exhibition of breeding plantings of various varieties and hybrids of agricultural crops," added Rachalovsky.
