In the following year, the Russian Federation exported wheat and wheat-rye flour to international markets totaling nearly $300 million. Compared to the previous year, the export volume increased by 3% in monetary terms and by 7% in physical terms.
Afghanistan became the main buyer of Russian flour in 2024, which in recent years has been the world leader in import volumes of the product. According to preliminary data, over the 12 months of the current year, flour worth $80 million was sent to the Central Asian country, which is almost twice as much as the previous year.
In addition, China became one of the top 3 importers of Russian wheat flour in 2024. Turkmenistan takes the third place. The export of flour to Iran increased by 18 times, to Mongolia by 6 times, and to Thailand, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan by 1.9, 1.6, and 1.6 times, respectively.
The main sales markets are China and the Middle Eastern countries, where there is a stable demand for Russian products. Future export prospects are also linked to a number of other Asian countries, Arab states of the Persian Gulf, and African nations.
According to estimates by the Federal Center for Agroexport, by 2030, the volume of Russian exports of wheat and wheat-rye flour may exceed $440 million.
