Iran has offered Russia help in exporting grain to other countries, said the deputy minister of economy and finance of the Islamic Republic on economic policy issues, Seyed Ali Rouhani, as cited by the RIA Novosti news agency.
"We propose not only importing grain from Russia to meet our needs but also providing our territory as a corridor for exporting Russian grain to third countries. Russia can rely on us as a reliable and long-term partner," Rouhani said.
According to him, given the Ukrainian conflict and subsequent anti-Russian sanctions, the Iranian route has become a safe alternative to previous delivery methods, but Russia has not yet taken advantage of this opportunity.
"Unfortunately, we are moving slowly in this direction... This path is undoubtedly a path of long-term partnership and strategy," concluded the agency's interlocutor.
